To provide students with a strong foundation in the theory and practice of computer science, in order to help them create and implement the latest computing technologies, develop into knowledgeable professionals and lifelong learners, for the betterment of community, the state, and the nation.
Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters).
Eligibility: Any bachelor’s degree/ Lateral entry for BCA
Computer science is one of the most rapidly growing areas of knowledge and applications today. Computer literacy has become essential for all aspects of work and study. This course will prepare students for challenging careers as professionals in the public and private sectors.
About the course
This program is designed to provide students with the educational grounding required for a professional career in the computing industry. It will provide an understanding of and the ability to apply the core principles and practices of computer science; the professional skills to meet the immediate needs of regional and other employers, while being able to adapt to rapidly changing technology; a foundation in the related areas of communication, science, and mathematics; an understanding of ethical responsibilities in the profession and the motivation and preparation to engage in life-long learning, including entering advanced degree programs in computer science. The program includes a core of required courses and an elective program of courses over a range of topics. Seniors will work in teams to carry out projects for industry during the advanced courses in software engineering.
Career prospects
Post-Graduates of the program can pursue careers in application-oriented, developing software positions in business,industry, government and education.
Course of study
The coursework includes lectures, case discussions, project work, written assignments, field trips, seminar presentations and other methods of learning. E-learning will be encouraged.
